FAQs: Nose Surgery & Deviated Septum Correction
In Abilene, TX
Nose surgery can improve a range of issues related to the size and shape of the nose, including nose width at the bridge; size and position of the nostrils; nose profile, including visible humps or depressions; and enlarged, bulbous, drooping, upturned, or hooked nasal tip.
The septum is the wall of bone and cartilage separating the two nostrils. When the septum shifts toward one side of the nasal cavity, it can impair air flow and breathing. Septoplasty helps to reposition or straighten the septum to the middle of the nose.
Yes! Nose surgery and deviated septum correction are outpatient surgeries. You will be allowed to go home once your anesthesia has worn off. You should arrange for a family member or friend to drive you home.
Immediately after your procedure, you may experience some pain and swelling and difficulty breathing. Dr. Bridge will prescribe appropriate medication to help ease any pain until your symptoms subside.
For a deviated septum correction, packing will be placed inside your nose to help it heal well. If nose surgery is performed at the same time, external bandages or a splint will also be placed on the outside of the nose. The packing and splints will be removed by Dr. Bridge in the days following surgery.
