Do You Need Liposuction or CoolSculpting®? Abilene, TX

September 15, 2022

Surgical or non-surgical? That is the question! If you’re confused about your aesthetic/cosmetic needs, we hear you! At Hendrick Plastic Surgery & MedSpa, we get asked to compare non-surgical treatments with our surgical procedures all the time. There are several benefits to both types of aesthetic treatments, of course, depending on your needs and downtime preferences.

To help you navigate your options before your personal consultation, we’ve broken down the benefits of just a few of our most popular services:

If you want immediate, controlled fat reduction:

Plastic surgery is the most direct and controlled way to achieve a specific result. For example, when it comes to fat reduction/body contouring, liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes unwanted fat anywhere on the body. It involves one treatment that provides immediate and long-lasting results. Though you won’t be able to see your results immediately, due to swelling and compression garments, you will still be able to achieve immediate and oftentimes dramatic fat reduction in your targeted areas.

If you want to avoid downtime:

Consider CoolSculpting®, an FDA-approved fat reduction treatment that freezes targeted fat cells. Unlike liposuction, which is a one-and-done procedure that can reduce large quantities of fat in precise areas, CoolSculpting can reduce up to 25% of targeted fat cells over several months’ time. Immediately following your CoolSculpting treatment, you will be able to resume your regular schedule no worse for the wear, since CoolSculpting is entirely non-invasive. However, you won’t see results for at least two months following your session. This is because CoolSculpting freezes your fat cells, which then get purged through your urine in the months following your treatment. To see your best results, we may recommend a series of CoolSculpting treatments.

If you want younger-looking skin:

Younger-looking skin encompasses a wide range of treatments! It runs the gamut from correcting dullness and fine lines to smoothing deep wrinkles and lifting jowls and crepey neck skin. Depending on where you fall on this spectrum, you may benefit from a combination of surgical and non-surgical treatments!

For a lifting and skin tightening effect that lasts, we may recommend facial plastic surgery. Depending on the severity of your skin laxity, surgery is the most efficient and effective solution for providing a smoother, tighter and more lifted appearance to the face and neck. Without a doubt, surgery provides the most dramatic benefits. For this reason, if you are comfortable with some social downtime, we may steer you toward surgery to reach your goals.

For strengthening skin and improving its elasticity, we may recommend non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments including BBL® photofacial and Halo® fractional laser skin resurfacing. These non-surgical treatments stimulate your skin’s natural healing response and promote new collagen and elastin growth, improving the look and feel of your skin gradually and naturally.

The best of both worlds:

For your best results, we may recommend pairing your plastic surgery with laser skin rejuvenation treatments. While plastic surgery can dramatically tighten, smooth and lift your skin, laser skin treatments help renew your skin from the inside, providing a full spectrum of skin renewal.
