New Year, New You: How to Be Your Personal Best Abilene, TX

January 6, 2022

A new you for the new year doesn’t have to mean a drastic change to who you are or how you live. There are ways, big and small, you can make your personal best even better. This likely won’t happen overnight, but that’s okay! You are working toward your personal best, which is unique to you. As you set realistic goals for bettering yourself, remember to never compare yourself to others and to always stay true to what’s important to you!

Here a few wellness tips to consider as you set out on making 2022 your personal best:

Focus on consistency rather than quantity.

Your New Year’s resolutions might include things you want to do more, like exercise. We always think it’s an all-or-nothing promise, that if you don’t give 110% and walk at least 20 miles a day, it won’t count. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. If you’re unable to nurture both consistency and quantity, always choose consistency. The most important thing about establishing a healthy habit is to do it regularly. Go at your own pace because every little bit counts. Even if it’s just taking a 10-minute walk each day, down the road and back. You’re still keeping your promise of bettering yourself, every step of the way!

Remember, you are good enough.

A lot of us have this tendency to be “perfect” and that being perfect means you’re self-improving. But research actually shows the opposite, that being a “perfectionist” is considered self-destructive because you’re constantly telling yourself you’ll never be good enough. If you’re stuck in this mindset, begin to shift how you think about yourself. When you don’t accomplish something to its fullest, remember you gave it your best and your best is always good enough. Learn to accept where you are and know you can always find ways to improve in the future. Perfection doesn’t exist, but being your personal best is very much a realistic standard we should all strive for!

Make self-care a priority.

We often promise to remove unhealthy or unhappy things from our lives in order to improve our year. But when you take something away, always try and replace it with something better. Now, it’s hard to be your best if you don’t feel like your best. That’s why practicing self-care is key. Whether that means going on a relaxing walk, enjoying a hot cup of tea, eating a balanced meal, sleeping in or even choosing to pamper yourself with a results-driven medspa treatment. At Hendrick Plastic Surgery and MedSpa, we proudly offer an array of professional aesthetic treatments, including CoolSculpting®, the world’s #1 non-invasive fat reduction treatment that freezes fat cells below the skin, helping to reduce areas that resist diet and exercise. We also offer laser skin rejuvenation treatments such as BBL® photofacial, a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that can provide luminous, younger-looking skin with minimal downtime, and Halo™ laser skin resurfacing, a fractional laser that revitalizes and refreshes your appearance by renewing skin from deep within!

We want to help you be your personal best in 2022 and beyond! For more wellness tips or to learn about our plastic surgery or medspa treatments, please call us at 325.670.5320 or request a consultation online today.
