Did you see what we did there? We put a new spin on an old New Year’s headline! In case you missed the memo, now is the ideal time to treat yourself to laser skin rejuvenation treatments like Halo™ fractional laser skin resurfacing, ProFractional™ skin resurfacing, BBL™ photofacials and MicroLaserPeel®!
Laser skin rejuvenation is all about creating controlled injuries in your skin which stimulate your skin’s natural healing response to reveal vibrant, new skin that’s smoother, more evenly-toned, brighter and younger-looking. Sounds amazing, right?
But here’s the catch: Did you know that exposing your skin to the sun following any laser skin treatment, even laser hair removal, can increase your risk for hypopigmentation and other unwanted side effects? That’s why we love writing blogs about laser skin rejuvenation in the winter months, when you’re most likely to be inside and away from the sun. It’s truly that simple!
Are you ready for radiant skin? Here are a few expert tips for achieving your best results this winter:
Expect downtime.
Depending on your treatment, you may or may not experience downtime. BBL photofacials, for example, involve little to no downtime because they don’t break the skin. Immediately following your Halo, ProFractional or MicroLaserPeel treatment, on the other hand, your skin can be red and quite raw for a few days to a week, depending on the intensity of your treatment.
Prepare to take a permanent break from the sun.
Downtime aside, every laser skin treatment, even BBL photofacials, require vigilant SPF protection in the days following your treatment. But we’ll take this a step further and recommend sunscreen vigilance for the rest of your life. Trust us, this is not an unfair expectation. Once you start noticing the dramatic improvements to your complexion after your laser skin treatments, you’ll want to protect your investment with diligent SPF application!
Don’t touch!
We know it’s tempting, but it’s important to keep your hands off your skin. Touching your face can introduce bacteria to your skin, increasing your risk for infection or irritation.
Hydrate!
Keep your skin hydrated by applying a non-comedogenic moisturizer throughout the day, which will speed healing.
Ease up on cleanser.
As your skin is renewing itself, it really doesn’t require much “cleaning.” If you must wash your face during the first week following your procedure, be sure to use only a mild, unscented cleanser like Cetaphil to avoid over-drying and irritating your skin.
Give yourself a boost!
The perfect complement to your skin renewing laser skin treatment is medical-grade skin care, which is formulated with results-driven ingredients like antioxidants and peptides to help enhance your skin’s renewal process and boost and maintain benefits long after your treatment.
